Every option gives you the same 22 hours, 50 litres and two shelves. The only difference is how long you commit for.

Why only Leyton?

Plus needs more room than our other studios have. Every Plus member gets a second shelf and 20 more litres of firing a month, and Leyton, our largest studio, has the space for the extra shelves and the kiln capacity to fire the extra work.

Turning Earth Leyton is set over 8,000 sq ft of an old nail-making factory, and features a huge making space under the beautiful north light of an old fashioned saw toothed roof, as well as a substantial dedicated storage room. It also has two dedicated classrooms, meaning there is ample space for everybody.

If you're a member at Hoxton or Highgate, we can move your membership to Leyton. Here's how.

Frequently asked questions

Contracts, suspensions and cancellations: our contracts page

Can I upgrade mid-contract?

▸

Yes. Get in touch and we'll move you onto Plus on your next billing date.

Can I drop back to Studio Membership later?

▸

Yes, once your minimum commitment ends. Email us at least a month before your billing date.

What are your opening hours?

▸

We're open 66 hours a week. Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 10pm, and Friday to Sunday from 10am to 8pm. We're closed on Mondays. You can visit any time during opening hours with no booking required.

What happens when the studio is busy?

▸

In practice, equipment has always been sufficient for the number of members. People tend to come and go at different times, so congestion is rare. If all the wheels are in use, we ask that you limit your session on that equipment to about 3 hours so others get a turn.

Can I use my hours at the other studios?

▸

No. Every membership is tied to one studio, and Studio Membership Plus is only available at Leyton.

What happens if I go over 50 litres?

▸

As with standard membership, you can pay for firing over your inclusive allowance of 50 litres at a rate of £4.50 per litre. Please note that work over the inclusive allowance may take longer to go through the kilns.

Do unused hours or litres roll over?

▸

No. Hours don't carry over, because that would make the system less stable and create congestion in the studio. Unused litres don't carry over either.

How is this different from In Production?

▸

In Production is our separate professional studio, around the corner from Turning Earth Leyton. Members there can work any time of day or night, mix their own glazes and fire their own kilns, and they join by application. It's currently full, with a waiting list.

Studio Membership Plus works like Studio Membership: you come during opening hours, use our ready-mixed glazes, and our technicians fire your work. You just get more time, more firing and more space.
