Course Membership Upgrade: Terms & Conditions

Eligibility

The Course Membership Upgrade is available only to students currently enrolled on a Turning Earth course. It is offered to students who are new to Turning Earth membership, or who have not held a membership with us in the last 12 months, so the reduced rate stays with people trying membership for the first time. It is currently available at our Leyton and Hoxton studios only, and is subject to availability.

Applying for a Course Membership Upgrade

There's nothing to arrange in advance. When you sign up to a course with at least four weeks left, we'll email you about the Course Membership Upgrade with a link to sign up. The latest your upgrade can start is four weeks before the last lesson of your course. Your first payment is taken when you sign up through the link, and we'll then confirm your start date and adjust your payments to match the end of your course.

Limited availability

The Course Membership Upgrade is a limited-time offer. Applications must be received by 1 September 2026, and both your course and your upgrade must begin on or before 1 October 2026, with at least four weeks left before the end of your course.

Fees

The Course Membership Upgrade costs £99 for the first month and £149 for each following month until the end of your course. Standard Studio Membership is normally £280 per month.

Duration

Your upgrade is valid from your chosen start date until the final day of your course. It cannot be extended beyond your course end date, and does not include studio access after your course has finished. If you'd like to keep using the studio afterwards, you're welcome to join as a Studio Member, available with a minimum one-month term. Just email our team and we'll help you get set up.

Cancellation

Your upgrade ends automatically when your course finishes. If you wish to cancel before the end of your course, please email us with at least two weeks' notice. Course Membership Upgrade fees are non-refundable, and we are unable to offer full or partial refunds for unused time.

Personal use

The upgrade is for your personal use only. It cannot be shared, transferred or used by anyone else. Your firing allowance is for work made by you here in the studio, as part of your studio access under this upgrade. It is not possible to bring in work for firing that has been made elsewhere or by someone else.

Studio access

The upgrade gives you access to the studio at which your course is based. It is not valid at any other studio location, because each studio manages its own capacity and equipment. You have access during normal opening hours for up to 15 hours each week. The studio week runs from Tuesday to Sunday, and our studios are closed to members on Mondays. Unused hours do not roll over, and your weekly allowance resets each Tuesday. We cap weekly hours so access stays fair and the studio doesn't become congested, which is also what keeps membership affordable.

Materials, tools and equipment

Course Membership Upgrade holders buy their own clay and provide their own personal tools. We stock a range of stoneware clay bodies available to purchase. During your studio sessions you're welcome to use our shared equipment, including pottery wheels, work tables, slab rollers, the extruder and our selection of plaster moulds. A technician is usually on hand to answer questions and give advice, though they do not offer teaching.

Class projects

We recommend keeping work made during your course separate from work made using your upgrade. Course classrooms are locked outside teaching sessions for security, and our team is not able to give access to collect or work on pieces outside scheduled classes. If you'd like to continue a class project, you may be able to do so while the classroom is in use for another class, subject to availability. Please speak to one of our technicians.

Finishing your work

Your upgrade ends on the final day of your course. After this date you'll no longer have access to the studio or its services, including glazing and firing, so please make sure all of your work is completed before your upgrade ends. Your personal shelf must be cleared by the end of your final day. We're unable to store personal belongings or unfinished work left behind, and any items remaining will be removed. Other offers

The Course Membership Upgrade is a promotional offer available for a limited time, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other Turning Earth offer or promotion.

Turning Earth reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions or withdraw the Course Membership Upgrade offer at any time. Any changes will not affect upgrades already in progress unless required by law.
